Welcome to the Jungle where we are "Wild About Learning"
A little about me:
I make it a priority to create a "paws"-itive learning environment for everyone to grow and exceed. Each child's unique personalities and gifts are celebrated every day through each of their voices. We are a school that encourages Bucket Fillers, leaders, Super Readers, Super Writers, Super Mathematicians, and continues to find success in all that we do. While growing in responsibility, compassion, perseverance, self-control and teamwork, which makes the dream work! We will soar and celebrate what makes us different and alike. I love teaching and learning! We have fun every day! Your children are amazing and make me smile! Thank you for entrusting me and the opportunity to teach your child this year.
I have taught primary school in public education since 1996 and I am thrilled to be here in Jackson County. Prior to relocating to Jackson County, I taught in Putnam County and Gwinnett County and the last eleven years teaching second and first grade. I had the honor and privilege of being named Alcova's Teacher of the Year in 2009. I have taught preschool, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade summer school, fourth and fifth grade summer school, and ELT for grades first, second, and third. I am originally from Georgia but grew up for the most part in Virginia Beach until we came back to Georgia. I earned a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Brenau University, and an M. Ed. in Reading with an emphasis in literacy from Walden University and am Gifted Certified. I have two fabulous adult children (son 33 and daughter 31); an incredible daughter-in-law, and two of the most adorable granddaughters you've ever seen! Harvin is 7 and Mason 4. I also have two Yorkshire Terriers ... what was I thinking being an empty nester!? I enjoy being a Nana, and spending time with my husband, family, and friends. I also enjoy reading, traveling to new places, watching movies, and riding my Harley Davidson motorcycle.
